‘Going out’ into the ordinary places - to share God’s love

Chaplaincy

We have a vision to ‘saturate’ entire city centres with chaplains, who support and reach many 1000s of people, working directly in multiple organisations, businesses and communities.

There are many everyday, ordinary places that the church can’t reach, and chaplaincy can open the doors for chaplains to GO into those environments to show the love of Christ.

While traditional chaplaincies have existed for many years in hospitals, the armed forces and prisons, over the last decade, there has been a significant growth and rise in chaplaincy in all sectors of society.

We work closely with chaplains who are serving Jesus in workplaces, education, sport, communities, emergency services, town and city centres and many more.

In 2019 we began exploring city centre chaplaincy and how this might be launched to provide much needed support to the city. Later in 2019 Richard became chaplain to the Bristol Bears Rugby Club, a professional rugby club, spending 1/2 day a week at the training ground supporting the players and the staff.

After a short delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we formally launched Bristol Chaplaincy in January 2022, and since then have grown to a team of 12 volunteers providing chaplaincy support in a number of different places.

Here are the places our team currently supports

Bristol Crown Courts

The development of Bristol Chaplaincy

PioneerING

Our focus to date has been on Pioneering the project, launching new initiatives and building momentum. While this focus continues with new initiatives coming soon, we are now beginning to move into the next phase of Bristol Chaplaincy.

StrengthenING Foundations

Building on the pioneering phase, we are now focusing on strengthening the foundations of Bristol Chaplaincy. Specifically, we are keen to secure long-term sustainable funding, to launch new funded workplace chaplaincies and to create resources and other relevant documentation.

Replicate IN OTHER CITIES

We have an ambitious plan to launch projects like Bristol Chaplaincy in cities all over the UK.
